I’ve spent 18 years guiding people through their precarious relationships. Whether it’s due to mistreatment or poor planning sometimes we just fall out of love. We’re only human and everyone makes mistakes; just walking all over them in muddy boots, roller blades, dirty paws, spilling soda or dropping toast with jam on it… you know I’m talking about floors right?
Go ahead look down at the floor right now. Look and ask yourself, “When’s the last time I vacuumed?” or mopped, swept or scrubbed? Chances are like most people we forget that carpet should be steam cleaned every 6-12 months and hardwood, tile and linoleum every 2 months. All that bacteria and nasty gunk builds up and ruins the luster of our flooring and after years of abuse it will be a hard fought battle to restore it.
Floors are the most unappreciated feature in a home, but they’re so important in setting a tone. If a roof springs a leak it’s fixed a.s.a.p. but if the floor gets a ding, burn, scratch, stain, chip we just cover it up or ignore it. At what point did we stop loving our floors? Celebrities walk the Red Carpet people not the red wall or red roof, it’s the RED CARPET!
Remember the first time you saw the home you moved into how wonderful it was? Then after moving in and the honeymoon phase there’s the realization of how old some things are. Maybe you're building your home and obsessing on making a decision you don’t want to regret for the next 20 years of your life.
We need to get back to the foundation of a room. The floor. We need to love our floors and the best way to do that is to have a floor you can love. Come to Old World Stone Imports Flooring & Design and fall in love again with your home.
